Taijiquan (or Tai Chi Chuan) is an internal martial art, practiced for health of the body and mind. A series of continuous soft and powerful movements represent different applications. We increase our longevity, strength, and quality of life by harmonizing body and mind with proper Qi flow (a natural balance of yin and yang). Tai Chi movements adhere to specific principles, or postural points, which guide our practice.
QiGong exercises condition the muscles, promote joint health, engage the brain, and leave us feeling rejuvenated and healthy using the Eastern concepts of Qi (life energy) cultivation and Yin/Yang (soft and hard) balance.
Some of the specific benefits that Tai Chi & Qigong practitioners may enjoy include the following:
Relaxation/rejuvenation
Improves cardiovascular functions
Increases mobility
Body conditioning/strength
Engages the mind
Lowers blood pressure
Lowers cholesterol
Improves balance/reduces falls
Improves arthritis symptoms
Slows osteoporosis
Practicing these slow, fluid Eastern arts in a relaxed environment may also cause smiling!
